Swing Chair Review 12-18-02

In this review we are reviewing the new model of the Swing Chair just released. The chair is displayed by Demetra Larrick. The chair now has extra padding and many new mechanical components.. The chair comes in a box 27" x 23" x 14". The box was 53 pounds.

The chair was easy to assemble. You just attach the casters to the base. Place the gas lift into the base. Place the gas lift cover over the gas lift. Place the SwingSeat over the gas lift and wiggle it to make sure it fully seats on the gas lift. Once the seat is securely fitted to the lift, operate the height release control to see that it makes correct contact with the gas lift release valve.

A properly adjusted SwingSeat will enable you to move freely, from reaching forward (e.g. to pick up the phone) to recline (e.g. to read or take), and anywhere in between. When not moving, with this chair,  you will feel stable and balanced with good postural support.

The newly redesigned chair has extra padding and is extremely comfortable. The arm rests are designed in soft rubber and give you both comfort and support. Excellent for using the computer keyboard and the mouse. The chair is very good looking and fits in any office decor. The color of the chair is black and especially matches the new black computers and monitors becoming so popular today. The base uses five wheels to give you extra support and works on either carpet or a hard floor surfaces.

What is especially good about this chair is it's support of your back. When you lean back or forward the back of the chair continually gives you support.

To give you the best support for your back you can adjust the back cushion until you feel good support to your back for your preferred working posture. The recline angle is easily adjusted so that you feel good support from your hips to your shoulder blades.

The back depth adjustment can be used to tune the back rest to support your preferred good posture.

You can also adjust the recline resistance to a setting where you feel you can relax comfortable into a recline position when you lean back, and at the same time sit upright and be fully supported. The cam has four positions: low-medium-high-medium. Reducing the force may require you to make small adjustments to the back depth and back angle.

The height and width of the arms can be adjusted such that your arms feel supported when hanging loosely from the shoulders and your forearms are parallel to the floor. You will want to pivot the arms slightly to match the angle of your forearms using the computer keyboard and mouse.

Adjusting the seat height to your body is easy to do using one level on the right side of the chair.

The back of the chair has a neat and clear design and looks extremely nice in any office.

Why should a trader have a swing chair. The reason is that traders prefer sitting, because it requires less overall effort by their large muscles than when they stand. Traders believe that sitting stabilizes their posture and helps them trader better.

Research is now showing that movement is necessary for well being especially a trader under constant stress. Unfortunately, today’s trader is becoming increasing constrained in his trading process. The trader usually only moves a mouse and occasionally types on the keyboard. He is constrained in a chair all day, which gives him discomfort and potential health risks.

It is now recognized that the constrained posture of the trader can contribute to a broad range of chronic disorders. This increases joint impairments (arthritis); inflamed tendons and tendon shealths, chronic joint degeneration (arthroses), and muscle pain.  Static and constrained postures interrupt blood flow in direct proportion to the loads acting on the muscles. Muscle oxygenation is reduced with fairly low loads. The constrained postures of the trader can cause chronic degenerative alternations of the cervical, thoracic and lumbo-sacral spine. These effects can magnify over time. An accumulation of residual strain over years may set the stage for serious injury.

One reason that it is important for movement is that after the age of ten, the spine loses its ability to actively feed itself (or, rather feed the inter-vertebal discs) and eliminate waste products. After this age, the spine receives nutrients and eliminates wastes through passive changes in osmosis that are induced by movement. There is scientific evidence that prolonged static sitting may compromise spinal structures by reducing disk nutrition, restricting capillary blood flow and increasing muscle fatigue.

For a trader to keep his health, it is important to have the right chair to trade in. As far as I know there is only one chair out there that is safe for a trader sitting in it all day long. It’s called the SwingSeat. I call it the Swing Trading Chair.  Dr. Jon Sterngold, an expert in this area, evaluated and treated thousands of people with back pain during his 25 year career in emergency medicine. He also has severe degenerative lumbar disc disease. He knows that the SwingSeat chair is both comfortable and therapeutic because of two factors. First, it facilitates ideal back/pelvis/thigh angles, reducing pressure on lumbar discs and supporting comfortable tension of the back ligaments. Second, by both allowing and encouraging back movement in the seated position, ligament pain and inflammation is kept to a minimum. The cause of most back pain is damaged ligaments from injury and strain. The SwingSeat minimizes strain on these ligaments and via continuous motion, facilitates healing.
